ILP + District Permission

Champhai Permit Guide — Myanmar Border Zone Permit for Mizoram's Eastern Gateway

Champhai near the Myanmar border is Mizoram's "Rice Bowl" and gateway to Rih Dil Lake. The standard Mizoram ILP covers Champhai town, but the Myanmar border zone requires additional district-level permissions.

Do I Need a Special Permit for Champhai?

Champhai town itself is covered under the standard Mizoram ILP — no additional permit is needed to visit Champhai, its markets, or the surrounding tea gardens and bamboo forests.

However, the Myanmar border areas near Champhai (including Rih Dil Lake which sits just inside Myanmar) require additional district-level permissions from the Deputy Commissioner's office in Champhai. These are not tourist permits but special zone access approvals.

Rih Dil Lake is in Myanmar territory. Indian tourists cannot cross to see the lake from the Indian side without special bilateral permits — these are rarely issued to individual tourists. Contact a registered Champhai operator well in advance.
